What is a Concierge?
The origin of the word Concierge comes from France in feudal times and is derived from the words «comte des cierges» meaning keeper of the candles and referred to as the person in charge of all of the guests and functions in palaces or castles. In the middle ages the concierges were the «keepers of the keys» in government buildings and castles. In the beginning of the 20th century international tourism rapidly increased with the advent of rail travel. Concierges became common place in the great hotels of Europe and in October of 1929 the first international meeting of Concierges took place in Paris.
Today the Concierge Team generally facilitates guest arrivals and departures, and manages valet parking and room deliveries. In addition the Concierge acts as an ambassador not only for the hotel but for the cities they work in. Your Concierge has access to a world wide network of professionals who can make arrangements for you anywhere and anytime.
At The Hotel Windsor the Concierge is an expert in arranging everything from the common place to more challenging requests.
